Budgam, Oct 10 (KNO): Massive traffic congestion during peak hours at Chadoora town has left commuters and locals distressed, with residents urging the authorities to take immediate steps to resolve the long-pending issue.
Locals told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that traffic jams have become a routine problem in Chadoora, particularly during evening hours. “It sometimes takes more than an hour to cover the short stretch from Degree College Road to the Police Station or the hospital—a distance that would normally take just five minutes without traffic,” a local said.
Residents said that despite repeated appeals, the issue continues to worsen each day, making it difficult for students, patients and daily commuters to reach their destinations on time. “Even ambulances often get stuck in traffic, putting patients’ lives at risk,” they added.
The locals blamed haphazard parking, roadside encroachments and street vendors occupying parts of the main road as major contributors to the traffic chaos. “It’s not just the administration’s responsibility; drivers must also ensure they don’t park vehicles carelessly, and vendors should avoid placing carts on the roadside,” another resident said.
They appealed to the concerned authorities to devise a well-planned traffic management system to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the town—(KNO)
